Week 2 of the Gluteus Medius Exercise Series: The Monster Walk Progression. Not just a great exercise for athletes… These are great functional strengthening exercises following joint replacements and other orthopedic surgeries. The Monster walk gets progressively harder as the band goes lower on the extremity (videos 1-3). #BEFitBeWell #gluteusmedius #physicaltherapy #bunsofsteel #NiceDanceMovesEric . . Video 1: Monster walk with band above the knees. Slight bend at the hips and knees. Small lateral steps keeping the knees pointing forward. . . Video 2: Monster walk with the band around the ankles. Short lateral steps always keeping tension in the band. . . Video 3: Monster walks with the band around the feet. Upper body and trunk should stay stable with the motion purely coming from the hips. . . Video 4: Demonstration of improper form including lateral trunk shifting, hip hiking, and not maintaining tension in the resistance band.
